CLA

With an array of laser systems on the market, selecting the right model for the job has not been an easy decision – until now. Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, developed the first upgradeable rotating lasers with flexibility of application at the forefront of the design.

Building and construction professionals working in horizontal applications may need vertical and slope functionality further down the line. The Leica Rugby CLA and CLH lasers have the unique capability to adapt to any application through software upgrades, as and when those features are required.

What differentiates the Leica Rugby CLH from the CLA model?  CLH stands for Construction Laser Horizontal, as the name suggests, for horizontal and simple slope applications. CLA is our Construction Laser All Rounder for horizontal and fully automatic grade applications. With an in-built, upgradeable laser platform, the customer won’t have to invest in new equipment when additional functionality is required. Software upgrades can be done simply through Leica Geosystems’ distribution partners.

The CLH and CLA are innovative solutions but how easy are they to use?  Both models have a one-button operation, designed for simplicity of use. The settings are fixed, and the lasers directed remotely by the Lecia Geosystems combo receiver /controller. The status, speed and appropriate grade on the laser unit are set on the Leica Combo. Speed of rotation can be changed from a distance in real time, while the crew are on site and as settings cannot be changed on the laser unit itself, the risk of errors, costing time and money, are minimised.

What makes the Rugby CLH and CLA lasers durable investments?  Side handles, made from shock absorbent material, provide all round protection in the event the equipment is dropped or topples over on the tripod. A rubber cover protects the glass cage on the top, again minimising the risk of damage. Both units are IP68 sealed, so completely water and dust proof and come with a five-year breakdown warranty. In addition, there is a two-year knockdown warranty period. If the laser falls and damage occurs during this time, Leica Geosystems will pay for the repair costs of the interior mechanism and labour. The customer will only be charged for housing parts if replacement is necessary.

What construction tasks are the CLH and CLA ideal for?  The Leica Rugby CLH and CLA upgradable, rotating lasers address the most important business needs of building and construction customers for simplicity, durability and flexibility. With straightforward, one-button operation, the CLH horizontal laser is perfect for concrete and formwork levelling, height checking and land levelling. The CLA, the all-rounder, delivers for any levelling, aligning and squaring tasks. The upgrade option then offers maximised performance for all horizontal and vertical applications.
